Today we launched our integrated Facebook Tabs with Band-HQ. Customized within the Word Press widgets objects. You can now drag and drop modules, reorder and customize them. Content is live and up-to-date as soon as it is published onto the site.

Introducing BAND-HQ

Band-HQ has been a long time in the making and is the synthesis of my personal frustration with both the time required to input, update and control the information required for a band and the inherent inefficiencies in having to repeat the same process multiple times.

Another frustration I have experienced over many years of working with bands, is the amount of User Generated Content (UGC) that is created by themselves and their fans and the lack of tools created for bands to take better advantage of this in their own, native environment and then a band’s inability to easily provide some type of context to all of this great UGC that is being created about them.

There has been no real way, or methodology to bring in the disparate pieces of content back together around the central theme – which is the band, in a straight forward manner, using tools that many bands already know – Word Press, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter and Facebook in particular.

Band-HQ does what should have been done a long time ago – look at the experience from the perspective of both the band and the fan and to take their different needs, wants and desires into consideration. The challenges and constraints that Bands, their management teams and labels have in both their time and skill is a huge factor in delivering a superior online experience and service for fans.

For both the Fan and a Band, the experiential commonalities flow from the music – Album, song, lyrics and specific song version, to location, place and time of a personal or common experience. Band-HQ is formulated around these commonalities and the context that a band can add. Bringing the individual and collective experience of the physical and virtual word together.

There are many tools and social sites where one can upload and share content, there are few tools that bring the disparate content available back into focus, no central Hub to allow for ease of use and no methodology by which to manage the many moving parts.

Band-HQ is designed to deal with and address the issues and challenges that social media and USG present to bands specifically and to provide tools to integrate and contextualize the Band and Fan Experience and to focus the many moving parts into a more unified whole.

I am happy to announce the launch of Phase One of our new Word Press Platform BAND-HQ that we have designed specifically for bands. The relaunch of JimBryson.org represents the completion of this initial development portion and the next of several iterations are already underway.

The Ford Story Part Two

The Ford Story is one of those projects that I will carry with me in the things that I have learned and experienced and always refer back to.
I had a chance to meet and work with many great people as we set about enabling the Ford Motor Company to tell a different kind of story via the social web. This was the third release of the site and the second major overhaul that I was involved in.
It was a story that we succeeded in enabling through the development of an integrated platform that allows Ford to tell, distribute and integrate its stories with the ideas, thoughts and feedback of its users and owners. The fact that Ford has a great story to tell and that its customers are passionate about their cars and trucks doesn’t hurt either.

Gord Downie Dot Com and other 10plus1 Music News

I’ve been lucky to have had a long working relationship with the band The Tragically Hip and its members. The Grand Bounce by Gord Downie is the first of several projects by individual Hip members who will have or are about to release out solo projects this year. Paul Langlois has just released Fix This Head, Rob Baker released a single Making Strange with Strippers Union just last week. They have a CD called The Deuce coming out in a few months. Gord Sinclair has produced a forthcoming album for The Trews. That album is coming out in March/April.

Also underway are a new site for Jim Bryson as well as Strippers Union, a site and Identity for Eggplant Entertainment and a bunch of stuff with The Trews – site, album package, photo shoot and some videos. Stay tuned for more information as this work gets released.
Last but not least, 10Plus1 is happy to say we’re in development of a new BandPlatform based on the WordPress platform. It’s an integration tool for musician’s to control their own content. Jim Bryson’s site will be it’s first release. We’re really looking forward to getting it out so we can start on the next version!

I’ve been flipping back and forth between code, video and photography this past year.

Starting with The Tragically Hip – I helped shoot the Coffee Girl Video on the Toronto Island.

Next, was working with my good friend Brian T. Moore shooting two videos for Hugh Dillon’s new Album, Works Well with Others. Brian did a really great Job on these.

Ford has been letting us do some amazing things. Like creating real, genuine, content. We go in, shoot off the floor, edit and post all within 24 hours. Nothing like having the guy in charge of the car taking you on a personal tour. Here is Jim Hughes, Focus Chief Engineer. Super guy, super car.

I’m one of the only people who has actually sat in this new Car. We’ve done videos for Fiesta, Focus and the Lincoln so far and will be doing more in the coming months.
